So much has been going on lately that I have failed to find time to faithfully post. These past few days we have been processing chickens. This time we had quite a few families come to see the process and our ever amusing chicken plucker. LOL! On Tuesday two families from our church came over. The two mothers stepped right in and helped momma with the eviscerating. Little boys were everywhere pulling off heads, cutting off feet, turning the plucker on and off, etc… I’d say it was a little boys heaven! By the time we were down to the last few chickens we had a system down. Little boys caught the chickens ready for Noah to put in the killing cones, Noah and another older boy slit throats and did the scalding, little boys did the plucker then brought the “naked” chickens over to where we ladies were eviscerating! We were done by noon. How much fun! As we all ate our lunch, we tried not to dwell on the fact that even though we had washed our hands, they still all smelled liked chicken innards. LOL!
Yesterday we finished up the rest of the chickens in our first batch. Some friends of ours from Columbus, Georgia came over to help. They have four boys and one girl. It is so much fun watching the little boys get so excited as they get to do all the steps. The ladies at the eviscerating table had many conversations, as we were pulling all the insides out of the chickens. We commented on the wonderful sense of humor our God has and how perfectly put together these chickens were, even to the finer details!
As we were caught up in all this, I didn’t have much time (or wasn’t clean enough) to take any pictures. But…………for those of you who are interested, I will try to get some copies of pictures that were taken by friends.
Morning: Awaiting transportation to their final destination.
Noon: The disassembly line in action.
Supper: Chickens fulfilling their life purpose.
Mmmm…..
