Campana Visit

9:29 pm on Friday, June 22, 2007

We had the pleasure of visiting with the Campana family last weekend. They had to go to a wedding in Birmingham on Saturday , so decided to stay with us for the weekend. The girls enjoyed, sewing, cooking, making short movies, ext., while the mothers had a lovely time visiting. The guys I think, had some good discussions and worked on trying to repair some engines, including the Go-Cart mentioned in the previous post. The boys really enjoyed riding it. Here are a few pics of the weekend, enjoy!~G~

Go-Cart Fun

1:28 pm on Wednesday, June 20, 2007

Well, yet another “New Thing” has found a home at the 11 Acre Wood. A Go-Cart. It was offered to us because it didn’t work and the former owner didn’t have time to try and fix it. So, we got it. We didn’t know quite how we were going to fix it but, we did have a couple things in mind. Well, thankfully we happened to have a skilled electrician, Mr. Campana, and his family visiting us (Grace is working on a post of their visit). He and his son got it up and running beautifully. We all have enjoyed many fun, interesting and hilarious rides in it since then. Here are a few pics of them.

Noah about to take Nehemiah on a ride.

Who’s next?

Here they come!

Boots

9:18 am on Saturday, June 16, 2007

Well, Abbi is off to Virginia and I am left with the blog. I shall try to be faithful in posting a couple things in her absence, this being the first.
As you may remember our family became owners of the renowned Crocs a couple months ago. We have thoroughly enjoyed them and they are wonderful shoes. One of the things we like so much about them is their versatility and comfort. They can be worn almost anywhere. Note the “almost”. Crocs have holes. Therefore they don’t work in water, mud, ext. So, for our boys, that’s where rubber boots come in. Now, there is something you must know before I go on. You see our little boys have this problem with rubber boots. Some of you may know their problem and have smelled it before J. Yes, smelled it. Our boys wear their boots so much and for long periods of time (and maybe without socks) that they stink. Yes, like a dead animal stinks. Boots and feet. So, we are about ready to pitch them. Now, back to Crocs. Another thing we love about them is they have a special coating that keep them from stinking. You also can just hose them off if they get dirty. Perfect, if they only had boots. Well, they do, we found them (half price at that) and the rest is history.

Have a blessed weekend! ~ Rebekah

I’m Off…

7:40 am on Thursday, June 14, 2007

…to visit my sister and her family in Virginia today. I’ll get to see my little 4 month old niece for the first time! They just put their house on the market and Lord willing, will be moving down here closer to family soon. So I’ll be away for about a week helping out at their house. It’s up to the rest of my family to keep up the blog during my absence and I know they will do a wonderful job of it. Well, I must get back to my packing. As we seek to serve our God and Savior in every area of our lives, may He receive all the glory and praise! God Bless.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

A wonderful Father and Husband. We love you!

                The Patriarch

More noble than the valiant deeds of shining knights of yore,
More powerful than earthly plights that make the rich man poor,
More kingly than a royal throne or a lion with his pride,
Is he whose babes sleep well at night sure Daddy will provide.

There is a spirit in this land and Jezebel’s her name.
She’s calling you to leave your home for power, fun, and fame.
She wants your wife, your children too — she’ll never compromise,
Until your house is torn in two by listening to her lies.

But though a hundred thousand million men may fall prey to her lures,
And wives en masse leave home in search of “more fulfilling” chores,
Though preachers praise, and friends embrace, her pagan plan of death,
Stand strong and quit you like a man with every blessed breath.

Stand strong and rise, O man of God, to meet this noble call,
The battle is not new you see, it’s been here since the Fall.
Your wife is your helpmeet, my friend, and not another man’s,
So care for her and keep her far from Mistress Jezi’s plans.

Protect, provide, and give to her your undivided life,
This is the dear one of your youth, your precious bride, your wife.
And rally to those tiny ones who trust you for their care —
A lifetime spent discipling them’s a lifetime pure and rare.

For when they put their hand in yours and know a Daddy’s love,
You’re showing them a picture of the Father from above.
Look not toward worldly goal or gain, or for your liberty,
Look only into their sweet eyes to find your ministry.

Devote your heart and sacrifice and make your manly mark —
There is none so great as he who finds his call as patriarch.

Overnight Visit

3:17 pm on Wednesday, June 13, 2007

A couple of weekends ago some dear friends stopped by for the night on their way home from a trip. The fun began at the end of our driveway. The Hicks family was traveling in their RV and it bottomed-out turning in our driveway.  The Roberts, who had been following behind them, had to park on the side of the road. All the girls and little boys unloaded and hiked up our driveway to join us at the house. Our sweet Mothers stayed down there encouraging their husbands. We were praying that their RV wasn’t torn up. Our wonderful Fathers and brothers worked together and, by God’s grace, about an hour later the RV was parked in the front yard! The rest of their visit was spent resting, eating, playing, talking, laughing, worshiping, singing, and enjoying one another’s company.

A table full of boys.

It made it!

Lunch preparations underway..

Eatin’ on the porch.

Noah giving a tour to the guys.

Our Mothers looking at the raised beds.

The lady of the day!!!

“Hey, do you think this will work?”

Gracie and Campbell.

Little boys on the big swing.

The mothers watching the action from the porch.

Playing a little ball before having to leave. (Notice the hole in the backboard. It fell victim to a slingshot.)

“So, do ya think you can get out?”

Sanders, Roberts and Hicks Families.

Campbell, my dear sister and Norma.

Everyone went down the driveway to make sure the RV didn’t get stuck again. Thankfully, it glided out without a scrape.

“Man, these bugs are eatin’ me up!”

The sad part about visits are the goodbyes. But we look forward to another one soon!

Random Thoughts

11:25 am on Monday, June 11, 2007

I was just getting ready to put together some posts about a visit we had from some friends last weekend (They dropped in on their way back from a conference. What a delightful time of fellowship!!) and our recent trip to Georgia to visit our grandparents. But I just found out that our wireless network is not working and all the pictures are on my laptop. So, that will have to wait until later….

Everyone is doing well here. The guys are up at the property again today pouring more concrete. Momma and the little boys just came in from harvesting some beans and zucchini from Noah’s garden. And I spent the morning unpacking from our trip and getting the house back in order.

To all our dear friends who are attending the Jamestown 400, we are praying that y’all will have a wonderful week spent with your families! Look forward to hearing all about it when y’all return.

                                                  Psalm 1

 “Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
     Whatever he does prospers.
 Not so the wicked!
     They are like chaff
     that the wind blows away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.”

Concrete

7:08 am on Thursday, June 7, 2007

The guys recent project has been to concrete the barn floor. We’d had some experience doing it before on our barn here at home in 2003. Everybody knows that when you are working with concrete, you have to be fast. It is coming along nicely. They have two of the four sections done!

Here it comes….

Fillin’ in a corner.

Noah smoothing it out.

Working on the entrance.

Hosing off.

Two down.

Lookin’ good.

Special Times

5:48 pm on Wednesday, June 6, 2007

Noah wanted to thank us for helping him with chicken processing, so last week he took Momma, Bekah and me out to eat for lunch! We went to a quaint little Mexican restaurant in town. The type where there is friendly service, BIG cups of water and champion arm wrestling on TV. Thanks Noah for a special time…

Finishing up the gracious servings of food.

Doesn’t Momma look lovely. The chip adds a lot, don’t you think? LOL!
