Trip: The Swimming Hole

6:18 am on Wednesday, August 15, 2007

Many hours fun were spent at the swimming hole during our stay. Catching frogs, wading, swimming and many other various activities. (For me, it was a good place to take photographs of the lake.☺)

An afternoon swim.

“It’s cold!”

“Oh no! Noah’s coming to attack the ship.”

*Sunshine*

Charge!!! Gabriel jumping off the floating dock.

Watching the activities from the bank.

Gabriel prepares to “take off”.

“Let go, now, Grace!”

Trip: A Real Cowboy Dinner

12:53 pm on Monday, August 13, 2007

Grammy and Grandpa Gene recently gotten back from visiting Oklahoma and the birthplace of Will Rogers. This year Oklahoma is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Grammy thought it was a good opportunity to do a special dinner for everyone while in Michigan- a cowboy dinner, that is. First she told about the history of Oklahoma, gave everyone bandanas (so they could feel like a real cowboy or girl) and then served up the dinner on tin plates. Thanks for a special time, Grammy!

Our history lesson.

Gracie and Bekah listening.

Grammy demonstrates the shape of the state.

“Wyatt Burp” rides again! LOL!

“Can anyone point to where Oklahoma is located in the United States?”

Takin’ it all in.

Very delicious!

The wonderful cook!

Trip: The Never Before Seen…

8:27 am on Friday, August 10, 2007

…rare privilege of viewing the pictures from a photo shoot of the photographer. No seriously, I’d rather not have a whole post on me! That’s just how I am, but my family insists. So enjoy, because from now on I’m staying behind the camera. ☺

Trip: How Did We Spend Our Time…

12:54 pm on Thursday, August 9, 2007

…you ask? It was spent in:

Playing. (There is just something about little boys and little G.I. Joe “guys”.)

Enjoying each others company.

Creativity.

Learning. (Grammy showing Noah some gardening notes that our great-Grandmother wrote down.)

Fishing.

And enjoying God’s beautiful creation.

Trip: Shooting Range At the Sand Dunes

2:12 pm on Wednesday, August 8, 2007

Mrs. Arlene’s husband Mr. Bob, was kind enough to take us ‘shootin’ at their sand-dune. We began with a round of archery, using various size bows, compound and recurve. Then we made our way up from pellet gun to shot-gun and 30-06. One of our favorite guns to shoot was the .22 western style ‘cock-back’ revolver. The sand dune made a great backstop for our shooting range. Thanks so much for the great time Mr. Bob!

Who wants to go first?

Is this an Arab in the Sahara? LOL!

“Let’s see, which target was mine?” (Daddy was the only one who got a perfect bullseye.)

Happy 2nd Birthday, Adam!

2:02 pm on Tuesday, August 7, 2007

Two years ago today God blessed this family with a precious little boy (nephew, grandson, etc..). Read his story here. He is such a loveable little guy and knows how to win the hearts of his Aunts with those eyes of his! LOL! May he grow “…in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” We love you, Adam!

Handsome birthday boy!

What is it?

Trip: The Hike

1:58 pm on Tuesday, August 7, 2007

One afternoon we went on a hike to see Mrs. Arlene’s garden.  She is Grammy’s cousin. Then we went on to see some other beautiful places around.

And off we go….

Watch out, these are some serious “bug-hunters”!

Touring the garden.

Cricket catchers.

“That’s the corn. Oh, and over there are the beans.”

“Fly like the wind!”

Little pond we stopped and looked at.

Gracie, Bekah and Grandpa Gene.

One side for adults and the other for the children. LOL!

Lucy coolin’ off.

Ethan on the watch for bullfrogs.

Some wild turkeys we came upon during our hike.

Trip: Michigan

12:02 pm on Monday, August 6, 2007

The next few posts are a recap in pictures of some of our adventures camping in Michigan (7-22 to 7-27).

We “kidnapped” our cousin, Ben, before we left and he came “along for the ride”. We all had lots of fun together that week.

So we left Uncle Jon’s house Sunday morning and arrived in our “Michigan” late afternoon. Grammy and Grandpa Gene had gotten there a couple of hours ahead of us and had the cabin all opened up and airing out by the time we arrived. Thank-you Aunt Anita for letting us “invade” your cabin for the week. LOL!

From the cabin looking down at the lake.

Getting settled in.

Boy, dirt, trucks…..heaven!

Daddy reading the Bible after breakfast.

Grandpa Gene kept telling Grace that he wanted some of her hair. So after she brushed it out one day, she cleaned out the wad of hair in the brush and gave it to him. LOL!

The young again Grandpa Gene.

By experience, it is a known “fact” that at least one day while you are in Michigan, it will rain. ☺ But surprisingly this time, we were blessed with gorgeous weather all week.

Much time was spent relaxing while learning some family history from Grammy!
