Cousin Company: First Timers

After getting all sweaty and worked up from the morning adventures, it seemed only natural to have swimming be the next order of the day. This was the first time everyone had ever been swimming in the pond before. Unless you counted this February excursion. Not all of us had thought to bring our swim wear, but that didn’t stop anyone from joining in on the fun! Jumping in, in your clothes-why not? Precious times with family!
This was the first time the treehouse had been used in conjunction with swimming. Y’all, I haven’t had so much fun in years! There is something about jumping from 20 feet in the air and then *splashing* into the water, that is just plain thrilling! I loved watching people as they jumped off, eyes getting wider and wider as they descended and then disappearing under the water only to pop back up with the biggest smile on their faces already swimming back over to the ladder to do it again!
If you’ve ever had the pleasure of swimming in a pond before, you probably remember the distinct fishy smell and grimy feel of the water. We were all surprised how clean the water felt in our pond. No grimy feel or foul smell. After we got out of the pond we all remarked that we actually felt really clean! I guess it is because our pond is mostly filled up with fresh spring water that starts on our property and is constantly flowing through the pond. When swimming it is kind of exciting when you sometimes get in a cold spot where the spring is flowing. Reminds us of the lake in Michigan.

There goes Anna. The only comments made afterwards by people were, “Boy that was a lot of air time!” More than you expect. It’s like Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

A loaded treehouse. Probably many people don’t get to view their pond from 25 feet above the water. We love the view. It is so pretty!

The guys standing out on the floating log. It was from one of the forks cut out of the treehouse. That thing was so much fun! You could stand on it as it would sink down under the water and then the “creature” would pop back up much the same as a submarine surfaces.
