Happy Birthday Noah!

9:17 am on Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Wishing my brother special blessings today. May God give him many more years as he continues to seek and serve the Lord everyday. We are so grateful to the Lord for putting him in our family.

20 years old.

Of Days Gone By…

5:46 pm on Thursday, September 25, 2008

Some pictures taken one day this week:

From the front porch looking out.

Gibbie takes a siesta.

Noah replacing ceiling fans in the library. One down, one more to go.

Newspaper break.

We have determined that the middle rung is not there just for support, but also is a handle for the little guys. J

Sunset jumpers.

“Boys, don’t ya know? It’s supper time!”

Sam mowing with Grandpa.

Ellen styles for us before bedtime.

Captivated…

Shadow Faces

12:41 pm on Monday, September 22, 2008

In the late afternoon the sunlight streamed in and made shadows on the drywall:

Goose attack.

Ahh…there’s two of ‘em!”

“Need a hair-lift?”

“Honest! I’m telling the truth!”

“Don’t move, or else.”

“Fore!”

“Reach for the sky!”

A Behind the scenes look shows the truth, it’s only cardboard.

Poor garden spider fell victim to letting the little boys collect his dinner for him.

Another grasshopper victim to the sticky web.

The next time they made a trip up there, they said the spider was gone. Probably gathered all up all his prey, threw his web over his shoulder and went to retire.

Since taking these pictures, Daddy’s got the whole floor tiled and our well has been drilled. The Lord blessed us with good water and plenty of it. We were told that a typical well gets 3-5 gallons per minute, but ours was averaging 30 gallons per minute! Which is a blessing since there are probably going to be two houses hooked up to that well.

Hope everyone is having a great week! Please continue to lift our friends up in your prayers. Our family is planning to attend the funeral service tomorrow.

All Pitch In

11:56 am on Monday, September 22, 2008

We liked how the ceiling color had turned out, so we tackled the walls next. We chose the bluish/gray color for the ceiling and light chocolate brown for the walls to tie it into the floor tiles. Since it is such a small room, we didn’t want any dark paint colors.

The walls were more of a group effort. Us girls and the little guys.

Just getting started.

Corner painter.

When the little boys wanted to ‘help’, we stuck them in the closet.

In need of painters? We are now hiring out! J

“Don’t mess with me!”

We kind of ran out of rollers. I wouldn’t advise trying this. J

Reaching the high parts. So far, that scaffold has been well worth the investment in so many different projects.

Art.

Lessons in progress…

A little bit of fun.

Momma did a great job painting where the two colors met.

Professional enough for a shop bathroom.

Gettin’ Down To Work

11:41 am on Monday, September 22, 2008

Noah and Daddy have done a great job muddin’ and tapin’ since it’s mainly been read a book and try it out.

Hey Mr. Scott, “Mud and tape…..mud and tape….” J

Scrapin’.

Figuring out how to paint above the shower.

Ta-da, the colors of choice.

So Momma starts on the ceiling-our first paint job at the property.

We had our own personal extension arm. J

“Howd’s it look?”

Working by natural light.

Wonder.

Daddy worked on putting together some temporary meter poles.

G.I. Joe guys and a gravel pile.

“Lemme see, what’s in the bag?”

Noah’s job for the day.

Mud bucket.

Down by the Pond

11:33 am on Monday, September 22, 2008

As I mentioned, we all went up to the property a couple of Saturdays ago. Everyone had a job to do that day. Painting, building, tapin’ and muddin’ or just getting dirty. We stopped and had lunch down by the pond before we girls started painting the shop bathroom.

Our view as we ate.

Walkin’ the shoreline.

Lunch remnants.

Carries his water wherever he goes.

Nehemiah goes fishin’ with his string and safety pin.

Sistas.

While some packed up lunch and headed back to the shop, others to a quick jaunt to see how the garden site was doing.

We stopped by and saw Noah’s house site. He hopes to receive the septic permit in the next few weeks.

Across the dam and down the hill to the garden clearing.

Pretty wildflowers.

The 1 1/2 acre clearing for gardens.

Pickin’ flowers for Momma.

The day was gorgeous, but still pretty warm.

Look, civilization!

Please Pray

Yesterday some dear friends of our family, lost their one and a half year old son Joshua. He was accidentally run over by the family car driven by one of the parents. Please lift their family up in your prayers, especially the mother, who is expecting their 8th and in her first trimester.

“The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.” Nahum 1:7

My Little Kitchen Helper

9:11 am on Tuesday, September 16, 2008

I’ve found there is quite a difference between having a little boy ‘helper’ and a little girl ‘helper’ in the kitchen.

Little Boys: Continuously want to know when they can ‘help’ lick, pour, splatter or dig something. And they don’t stir with spoons. Oh no! They have a (toy) bulldozer in hand to move around the dirt flour for ya. All about getting messy you know. Then after a while they’re “done”, and so move onto something more exciting in the other room. But they somehow always turn back up when the food’s ready. J

Now Little Girls on the other hand: Are actually interested in what you’re baking, not just what it tastes like. They can sit on the countertop through the whole process (clean up included) and be content given a wooden spoon and something to stir. They’ll sit there..and stir….and stir…and stir….and stir……

It’s fun to see the different roles God specifically designed for Men and Women, shine through at such young ages.

“Hmm…ya think it’s been stirred enough?”
