A Look at the "Real" Sanders Fam

12:14 pm on Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Here are some pictures taken from last evening. Warning: There are few of you who really know us. J

G.I. Joe’s EVERYWHERE.

Posing.

“Hey, what?”

Washing supper dishes.

“Please no, I’m just putting my socks on!”

One of a kind.

Fleeing from the paparazzi.

Grace, “Has anyone seen my clip?” Noah, “This one?”

Meet “Maui” Girl.

Well…..what can I say?

Nice choice to hide behind.

Intent staring.

Being newsy.

Caught by a hip shot.

Seriousness in the midst of craziness.

Hello…..

Leftover cornbread anyone?

The youngest isn’t always the smallest.

Narrating an excerpt from P&P.

“I will make no promise of the kind!” said Elizabeth.

Turning around hastily, Lady Catherine de Bourgh added, “I take no leave of you, Miss Bennet. I send no compliments to your mother. You deserve no such attention. I am most serious displeased.”

Sweet Sixteen

12:35 pm on Friday, October 24, 2008

Rebekah, we wish you a very Happy Birthday and may God Bless you in this new year of your life.

Much Love, Your Family

Range Hot!

6:24 pm on Wednesday, October 22, 2008

On the afternoon of Noah’s 20th birthday, he wanted to do some target practice with the family. So we all went down and left Granddaddy and Grace (who was still recovering from her surgery and couldn’t shoot) to cook the steaks for supper. Thanks for the idea, Noah! A jolly time was had by all.

Art.

Momma has the first turn.

Little boys dug around and collected empty shells.

This is pretty neat!

“Now, if you were in this situation, this is what you would do….”

Makeshift whistle.

Grandmother and Bekah give it a ‘shot’ next.

Momma and her baby.

We named our target out there, Will. Now we can “fire at will”!

Art.

Momma, Grandmother and Nehemiah head back to check on supper.

Noah loads the .22 for the little boys while they set up targets.

Shotgun Shooter.

Waiting for his turn…

On a side note, the shirt Eman is wearing, used to be Noah’s when he was younger.

For the most part, the chickens and geese paid us no heed. Only on an occasional blast would they flap and squawk their way under the bushes. LOL!

SIGS.

‘Bout as big as you, boy!

Gettin’ a turn with the SKS.

All about perspective.

Firin’ away.

Double.

The problem with Will now, is finding a spot that hasn’t been hit. J

Some other victims.

He’s definitely a goner.

We bid thee, farewell….come back again, ya hear? And to all you lurkers out there, come out and say hello.

Fall Is Here!

Pool Baptism

8:43 am on Tuesday, October 21, 2008

Earlier in the month, our pool was used for a baptism. The church members gathered around our pool on Sunday afternoon.

Our family has been blessed with no allergy problems. So we are able to enjoy bouquets such as these in the middle of the kitchen table.

Sweet miss Anna Kate.

Momma and her boys.

Front row seating.

Singing hymns.

All gathered around the water.

Pastor Paul leads.

A sweet family singing together.

Eman listening.

Recognizing new members.

Testimony shared.

Poor Grace had just gotten home from the hospital that morning after having her appendix out.

Little chilly.

Jokes were made, that Brandon could stand in the deep end and Pastor Paul in the shallow to even out their heights. LOL!

Praise the Lord!

Bekah and Nehemiah.

Wheee…

Proud parents.

The Celebration of Joshua’s Life

12:55 pm on Thursday, October 16, 2008

I’m am so behind in blogging, as of late. I will post when I can though. Here are some pictures from the day we went down for little Joshua’s funeral. The dear Plath family were a walking testimony of God’s faithfulness. Go here and read a wonderful post written about the day. After the morning funeral, everyone came back and spent an afternoon enjoying eachother’s fellowship and encouraging one another.

Our lunch table.

The spread of food prepared by loving hands.

Momma and Mrs. Monica T. in a friendly discussion.

What a lovely, sun-shiny day.

This little lady, Martha Ann, is growing up fast. Adorable!

Noah apparently explaining something interesting.

In the shade of the tent.

Sittin’ on his grandfather’s knee.

A full yard.

Daddy and Mr. Fritz listen to the men’s discussions.

Circle of girls.

Barefoot girls in the grass.

An energy outlet for the kids.

Ladies catchin’ up.

Sweet moments.

Grace and Martha smile for me.

Full table.

Daddy speaking with Mr. Barry.

As the afternoon wears on, it’s time to start roundin’ the fam up.

It’s was Norma’s birthday and Bekah gave her a quilt she had made. Isn’t it pretty?

Embroidery work.

A slight detour as we were heading to the car. Noah wanted to glance at Mr. Ray’s new hydrogen generator.

Mr. Ray made the unit himself and said it has increased his gas mileage by 2 or 3 miles per gallon.

The unit takes excess electricity produced by the alternator and uses hydrolysis to break apart water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen gas. The gas is then piped to the air intake and burned in the engine. In the above picture Mr. Ray is holding the fuel cell, where the hydrolysis is taking place.

Laughing about something, but I don’t remember what.

Onlookers.

After drawing a big crowd, a suggestion was made to start collecting an admission fee. LOL!

Miss Mariah (love your hat, dear).

Have a great week!

There is likely to be a absence of posts/updates over the next week. Some of the fam is, Lord Willing, headed off to visit Grandparents and family over the weekend and first part of next week. Since I don’t expect that Daddy or Noah will be posting anything in our absence, just come back next week for something new.

West House (Santa Fe) Tour-Part 5

9:30 am on Friday, October 10, 2008

(Editor’s Note: Entry written by Daddy, pictures by Abbi and captions by Abbi w/the help of Noah’s memory.)

From the office we went to Dennis and Cat’s house.  They have a beautiful southwest-style home outside of Santa Fe.  Their house has very interesting architecture, and the landscaping in their yard is amazing.  We enjoyed walking around their yard with native flowers, a waterfall and pool, stones, a great foot bridge, and other features.

Sun rays seen from the car as we drove over to their house.

The Rockies.

Welcome to the ‘West House’ as we named it. The story behind it goes….Nehemiah couldn’t grasp the concept of “Traveling out West”. He continually asked when we were going to get to the West house! After many attempts of trying to explain that we were in the West and still no success, we dubbed Mr. Dennis’ house “The West House”. After all, it was about as far West as we were gonna go anyways. That answer seemed to satisfy Nehemiah and from then on we didn’t hear “When are we gonna get to the West’s House?” it was all about “Member da buttons at da West’s House?” LOL!

Getting a tour of the yard.

Authentic tumbleweed.

The hazy light was perfect for portraits and so I took advantage of it and the gorgeous backdrops. Their yard was a photographers paradise.

Yard Art.

Handsome brother.

Me, Myself, and I.

Bekah dear.

Grace amongst the flowers.

Master Ethan.

Master Eman.

Master Gibbie.

Nehemiah-the ham.

Momma and Daddy.

Don’t ya love the sound of a waterfall in the backyard?

The inside of the house was also fascinating with an eclectic blend of Disney memorabilia, Dennis’ home theater, lots of antiques, and even the four poster bed that belonged to Wiley Post (the famous aviator who died in the crash with Will Rogers).

Mr. Dennis showed us his collection of antique predecessors to television entertainment. Here is a neat, lamp powered scene viewer.

An early animation toy.

Mrs. Cat’s rolling pin collection, creatively displayed in a wine rack.

Looking in another animation machine.

An entertaining coffee table top.

An early Edison cylinder phonograph. Mr. Dennis had it all set up to play ‘Dixie’ for us!

They had lots of Civil War era furniture pieces in their home that I loved! Not sure if this was one of them, though.

A very old marriage certificate from one of Mrs. Cat’s relatives.

Wiley Post’s bed. Pretty neat to see after just going to the Will Roger’s museum.

Ridin’ on a real ‘buckboard’ seat. “Anyone need to hitch a ride?”

The kids were delighted to find that Dennis had other “buttons” at home and kept him busy showing them his other toys.  He also let them watch an episode of Daniel Boone in his home theater (complete with huge screen and twinkling lights) and they thought they were in a movie theater.

Getting to view our blog on his HUGE Mac screen.

Very nice to have a relaxing evening!

We had a great visit, probably overstayed our welcome, and went back to the hotel tired but full of good memories of the day.

Thanks, Dennis and Cat.

Santa Fe Tour-Part 4

5:11 am on Friday, October 10, 2008

(Editor’s Note: This journal entry was written by Daddy 7-21-08 and pictures and captions by Abbi)

After eating we went to the art store where Dennis works.  He is part owner of a chain of art stores that caters to the needs of the artists in the central and northern New Mexico area.  The store was very nice, but our favorite features of the store were the snake and the “buttons”.

Walkin’ into the art store.

The 17 feet long and 250 pound snake was a Burmese python named Delilah.  She was raised by one of the other owners (Ron) and lives in a glass-walled room in the store.  Ron brought the snake out and let everyone pet it.  We also got to hold one of Delilah’s 9 month old offspring (Delphinia?), one of 40 babies she had. We had just missed a feeding time for Delilah so the snake was fairly lethargic (which was okay with me).  Everyone in the store was very friendly and interested in meeting our family.

“Come on, you’ve got some visitors.”

More than a handful.

Quite an attraction.

“That’s just……big.”

Ready to head back into her ‘not so private, glass-walled’ quarters.

Delphinia gives a knot tying demonstration.

More his size.

Ethan’s turn.

Finding new friends.

Tickling tongue.

The “buttons” were in Dennis’ office.  His office overlooks the store and is filled with battery-operated toys (mostly Disney).  Dennis showed the kids how each one worked, and the younger boys were looking all over for more “buttons” to activate the toys.  This was a definite highlight for Nehemiah.

The view from Mr. Dennis’ office.
R2-D2 ignoring instructions from Mr. Dennis.

As a last resort, read the instructions.

Enjoying watching Mr. Dennis get disobeyed by a toy.

“Maybe a little intimidation will help!”

Laughs all around.

Trying other voices.

Another ‘button’ demonstration.

No instructions needed for this toy.
