Back when it stayed below freezing for over a week, the pond froze over.
Each day the ice got a little thicker. If we’d known it would stay frozen for so long, then we could have run water over the top of it to make it thick enough to walk on. Oh, well…..
Some snowflakes froze on top of the ice one night.
It helped make the ice show up better in the pictures.
The thickness on this side of the pond.
Bekah and I broke through and saw how far ice pieces would slide across the pond. Ice sliding instead of rock skipping.
Blake thought it was fun to walk out on top of the water. LOL! He went out to the middle once, but we didn’t let him do it again. If he broke through there wouldn’t have been much we could do to help him.
Close up.
Isn’t it pretty?
Frozen in the grass.
All of our ice sliding pieces (Oh, and don’t forget the leaves that blew out there too).
Now we trudge over to the dam.
The ice is lots thicker over here.
This boat’s not goin’ anywhere anytime soon!
Testing out the strength.
A little thicker than the other side.
Underwater plant life frozen in place.
Presenting…our ice skating rink strip. LOL! But boy did we use it for all it was worth! Bekah first came up with the idea with her rubber boots on. You get a running start and slide across. If you didn’t get tripped at the beginning by a clump of grass, then you could slide all the way across the couple feet. J
I just had crocs on, so Bekah and I swapped shoes and I tried it out. Needless to say, there were lots of laughs and some cracked ice. LOL!
The boys tried to go ice fishing, but I don’t know that they were successful.
Details of God’s creation.
Fun memories!
