Dropping A Note

10:23 pm on Friday, February 26, 2010

Well, we’re still alive and well, thankfully. Just a little tired. We’ve been laying pine flooring all day and are just stopping for the night. It was a little slow starting and getting down the system, but so far it’s gone well. Noah and I (with various others helping throughout the day) worked on flooring, Bekah painted trim, the little boys were a great help tidying up, Grace has kept us fed and Daddy and Momma worked on getting a functional bathroom done. So as of tonight we have hot, running water, a clean shower, a sink to wash your hands in and two toilets installed! No door, but that’s just details.

Everyone is working hard around here and progress is being made. Wish I could share pictures, but the whole computer thing isn’t worked out yet.

Good-night, y’all! “May the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7

Excuses…Excuses!

9:04 am on Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Y’all will have to be patient. It’s complicated, but the short explanation is that I can’t post anything currently. We have DSL at the house now, so we can come out and hook up with our laptops. But the main computer that we use to post from is at the shop where it was hooked up to our Verizon card. It was disconnected this week, however, and so now I’m not sure how we’re gonna post. That’s gotta be figured out. I’ve got snow pictures and such waiting to be posted, but for now you’ll just have to put up with my text.

We’ve got some wood up on the walls, just about all the tiling done, lights up, etc…. We’re getting close to being ready to lay down carpet. Now we just need a non-breezy, non-rainy day to spray doors and trim. That’s been pretty rare around here lately.

Okay, so I’m done. Keep warm and have a blessed day in the Lord!

“But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation always say, ‘Let God be exalted!’ ” Psalm 70:4

Life Goes on…

9:08 am on Friday, February 12, 2010

… But it seems we can’t always find time to blog about it all! So sorry for the lack of posts around here! I hope to make up for it. We are staying busy and occupied with the House in most of our spare time It is coming along so lovely and so much progress is being made!(I will refer to our big house that is unfinished with a capital “H”) Daddy has been working on tile in the laundry room, pantry, mudroom, and guest bathroom, and it looks so good…… and Noah is working on putting up lights and such around the house… It is lots of fun seeing all the pretty things go up on our walls and ceilings!  I just can’t wait to have guests over to our new Home! (ask any of my siblings, I am already writing our guest list! ) Oh, and we are all excited about being able to plug things right into the wall, Ethan is very good at putting outlets in, and is a big help to Noah. He even taught me (btw- I’m Grace J) how to wire outlets, and I think it is kinda fun J …bye, bye extension cords!!!!  Well, enough about the House. Even though we spend much of our time at the big House, our normal (like as normal as it ever has been! J) life and routine still goes on in our little barn! J The little boys are as full as energy as ever, and spend much of their time outside, playing or doing chores, school, and helping Daddy in the House. They bring lots of smiles to our days.. and I really think every family should have a posse of little boys! (especially when they are as handsome as my brothers. J) We girls and Momma are busy with the stuff that keeps a house running, while also helping at the other House, taking care of the little boys, running errands, doing school, and the such. Momma is still diligently finding all the best prices on things such as countertops and light fixtures for the House. J  The weather has been quite rainy and cold the last few days, but we enjoy the days of sunshine we get and look forward  to the warmish/cool weather of spring…. I love seeing all the little greens things popping up and the flowers everywhere and the clothes on the clothesline whipping in the wind… spring is such a beautiful, hopeful time of the year. What a gift from God the seasons of the year are! Well, I had best finish up, and get on to other things.  May your week be blessed as you thank the Lord for all his many, many, blessings towards us!                 Grace for everyone J
P.S. - If you comment please don’t forget to leave your name so we know who you are!

Isn’t that gorgeous (even though it is just dead weeds on a log J)?! It is quite lovely to have a professional photographer as a sister, you take the pictures, I’ll write the text!

This is the color of the walls in the girls room… we hope to accent with brown. Once we add our furniture and stuff I’m sure it shall be quite lovely and cheerful! Momma liked the color so much she put it in the laundry room too. I told her that when you went in there you felt like you were in the washing machine!

A sconce I have looked forward to putting up since before drywall! Noah was kind enough to let me be the first to turn it on. J  Oh, and this is the color of the walls in the loft area upstairs, though the coloring in this picture kinda makes it look orange-y, it really is a beautiful deep red!

A view from the kitchen into the living/dining/music room. (seriously, once we get our house finished no one is going to want to come see it, because they have seen the whole thing from start to finish on the blog! L )
In the loft upstairs- Abbi said this a sneak peek of the wood on the walls, didn’t Daddy do a great job? Oh, and those lovely sconces and ceiling fan are some of our light fixtures…just in case you were wondering… (maybe I get a little too excited about lights!).

Momma’s clock… she already brought it out to the House, and it is sitting in its place on the mantle. It has such a lovely, homey sound when it dongs!!

Bloom where you’re planted…. the Blakersly.

Our pretty little chickens. They have started supplying us with more eggs now that the days are a bit longer, much to the delight of our customers. The little boys faithfully feed, water, and collect the eggs everyday.. actually that is where they are right now!

See, I told you I had handsome brothers…. and this one is just plain cute!

Gib

“Ummm, I’m not sure I’m gonna like this picture Abbi.”

 Lost in thought……

My leftover dough experiments after making pizza one evening….

Y’all come back please… there are many things that need posting about…. hopefully we will get them up soon! God Bless!

"Catitude"

10:41 am on Friday, February 5, 2010

If you have ever owned, been around, or heard of cats (and I think that about covers everyone) then these pictures should  add a little hilarity to your day. Our Grandmother sent us this email the other day and the pictures all made us laugh so hard that we thought we would share. I guess you could call it your Friday Funnies. Hope you enjoy! ~Rebekah

P.S. Sorry about all the cat pictures, Grammy. Thought you might get some laughs anyway. *smile*

200 Strawberry Plants

5:45 pm on Wednesday, February 3, 2010

Trying to get our strawberry plants in the ground. They are suppose to be dormant, but were sprouting in the box.

Noah’s eye-appealing triangle bed layout.

One of our 4 varieties.

Marking them out.

The house across the pond and through the trees.

Sealing boards with water-based polyurethane.

Daddy’s been workin’ hard on tiling. Here he’s laying down bacboard.

Momma painting the window sills.

With all the rain (5 inches in two hours one day) and cold we’ve had, a beautiful day is a welcome sight. Praise God!

“For the Lord gives wisdom,
and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

He holds victory in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,

for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones.

Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair—every good path.”
Proverbs 2:6-9

Higher Ground

7:02 am on Monday, February 1, 2010

Since our bottom garden has been really wet, we had Mr. Tad clear another garden site that is located up on a terraced hillside.

Now we can plant in the higher garden spot in wet seasons and the lower in dry times.

One terrace.

A neighbor graciously brought us some rotted hay bales for mulch.

Mr. Tad clearing.

The boys had a “hay day” on the bales!

They played freeze tag on the bales and of course Blake and the cats joined in.

Yipee…….have a great Monday!
