Pre-Wedding Catch-Up Post
A 98 picture post. Not sure if this beats the record of any other catch-up posts, but here it goes:
Every weekend leading up to the wedding was booked with some event. And at each event it usually worked out that the engaged couple got to see each other. LOL! I didn’t have a chance to blog all the different events before the wedding, so here it is, all in one ginormous post!
Reed Bingham Shower

I wonder who those are for?

There was a shower put on by Dorothy’s church family one Sunday afternoon. After market Noah and I headed out a day early on Saturday to surprise her.

Here we are stopped for gas.

Summer days-rain with sunshine.

It was a total success!

The “couple” dressed for the shower which was held at a nearby state park.

The building was the perfect setup and A/C was much appreciated on that hot day!

Some of their gifts served as table decorations. Everything was setup so nicely.

Bud and Bob.

It’s Graceo!

“I hear ya man.”

So glad Grandmother and Granddaddy made it down for the afternoon.

Noah and Dorothy going around and talking with people.

Those mud puddles look so inviting. This is what boys do while gift opening goes on. And this…..

…is what little girls do.

Noah & Dorothy’s audience.
Last “Wednesday Night”

Dirt baths.

Prim and Proper.

Eh…not really.

“Who snuck the sleeping pill in the soup? LOL!

Jeff is moving on to a place far, far away and so we three play our last song together. We’ve all played at church for the past several years.

Come back for a visit, anytime!
Cave Trip

One weekend Noah and Dorothy went on a caving expedition with a group of friends from her church.

Without your head lamps, it is total darkness down there.

Ethan got to go with them. He was so in his element.

Noah and Ethan’s sleeping quarters.

I just had to include this picture. We laughed so hard. Henry man, at first we thought your helmet looked like a turban!

Noah’s artwork. (He did not trash the cave with this graffiti. Almost every other square inch of the place is sprayed with names and other “artwork”)

Dirty and happy.

The whole caving crew.

The beautiful scenery on the hike back to the vehicles.
We Do Have Weeds

“Organization saves time.”

Baseboards painted and ready to be reinstalled.

Some old friends stopped by one morning and were sweet to help unload some furniture Grandmother and Granddaddy had gotten for Noah and Dorothy.

Momma and Mrs. Michelle.

Jason and Noah.

Freshly mopped floors.

Granddaddy installing the bookshelves he built for us.
Sewing….Sewing……sewing

The day had come to start our bridesmaids dresses.

There was one weekend that was “free”. Noah and us girls went down to the Mortons on the 4th of July bearing fireworks and sewing machines. LOL!

Adeline saved us a tremendous amount of time with her help and advice since she’d already made two dresses out of the pattern.

Spiffy.

We brought some photo albums of when Noah was little that were fun to look at.

Construction zone.

They spent the days just being together. I don’t know what all they got to because……

……we didn’t leave the sewing room much. Poor Bekah and Addie. They worked with the pattern that we finally concluded was flawed and messed up. LOL! Everyone had the same problems with the bodice not fitting in certain areas. Ahh…those girls had so much patience! I just cooked.

Martha-laundry lady. And yes, Grace was with us, she just took over the camera that visit for me. Hence the lack of her face….

…and more of mine. I don’t know why, but she is always taking pictures of me. LOL!

Ahhh….we’ve been in here too long!!!!

Addie working on the veil.

“If I have to try this dress on one more time I’m gonna…..oh I forgot. ‘We…don’t go there. We definitely don’t go there’!” LOL!

It was so much fun having a sewing party. We played fun music and laughed a lot and ate peanut butter. Fun times….

And “the couple” were so boring. LOL!

They just sat and stared at each other. Yes, I know, I’m in no position to say anything…

Edwin-O, a faithful chaperone.

Love ‘em!
Home Life

Truck bed “art”.

Horrid picture of us, I know, but it marks an event we mustn’t forget. One day Noah sacrificed his evening phone call to Dorothy and took us girls to the drive-in. Sweet brother.

Watch out, the baby of the family becomes an expert chess player!

Kitchen duties call….

Scraping vanilla beans for a new batch of vanilla.

Laying the beginnings of a sheet mulch on top of the red clay yard.
After the Chickens are in Bed….

….party.

Lora Lynn hosted a girly girl shower for Dorothy and what an evening of fun!

Doesn’t even have to try to be cute.

Coffee or tea anyone?

Chocolate…..an essential to any home.

We played a game as Dorothy opened her gifts. We made her name into an acrostic, paired into teams and each described her as we knew her. This team was having too much fun. I think for one of the “O”s they put orthodontist free. LOL!

A nightgown that belonged to the grandmother she was named after.

Listening to the words of advice from the mothers.

Keni and Gracie.

LL made this sugar scrub for your feet.

Writing memories in each other’s journals.

Wedding photos.

Of course, P&P is playing.

Thanks for the fabulous girl’s evening, LL!

The next day Noah & Dorothy went to market with Tom and Eman. We girls went swimming in the pond and then here we are snacking for lunch.

It’s all about the look. LOL!

The mother’s arrived back from town with the “good food”. LOL! Let the party begin…. Actually, it was more like everyone crashed that afternoon and everyone caught up on some much needed sleep before having to get ready. LOL!
Pounding

That evening we all caravanned down to the Pounding at the Whatley’s home.

As expected, the food was sooo good! Smoked barbecue, corn on the cob, homemade sourdough bread, etc….

People brought gifts to stock Noah and Dorothy’s pantry with. Now they have a great start on the staple items needed in a kitchen.

The “lounge”.

The official gift hander-outers.

These two look a little mischievous to me.

Noah was so caught! LOL! They tied him to his chair.
First Home

While the Mortons had been here they were so helpful in getting N&D’s kitchen all cleaned and ready for Dorothy to add her special touch to.

The gifts just about left no living room. LOL!

The week before the wedding Grace made Noah smoothie for lunch. She put it in two glasses, one for him and one for “Dorothy”, even though she wasn’t there!
